![]() ![]() We fixed an issue with iTunes that might crash upon startup. Update 31.0.101.4502 WHQL for Intel Arc & Iris Xe Graphics Drivers provides fixes for a variety of issues encountered when using Intel Arc graphics products: Intel Arc graphics cards aren't that powerful. The Intel Arc & Iris Xe Graphics Driver version 31.0.101.4502 WHQL has been announced, including bug fixes as well as game support and performance improvements from previous beta drivers (31.0.101.4382 Beta and 31.0.101.4499 Beta). This means I can have up to 7 VMs using the same physical GPU.Intel Arc & Iris Xe Graphics Driver 31.0.101.4502 WHQL for Windows 11 and Windows 10 includes bug fixes for iTunes and WebView2 Embedded Web Content. ![]() The “root” GPU is at PCIe 02.0, while there are 7 VF GPUs. ![]() The screenshot below is from my Beelink i5-1240P Proxmox VE 8 host. This enables, for instance, multiple VMs on a single Proxmox host to share the same physical GPU and benefit from hardware acceleration as if they had their own physical GPU. This enables compatible devices to virtualize a device, like a GPU, into multiple VFs (virtual functions). However, there is newer technology called Intel VT-d (Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O) which is related to SR-IOV (Single Root I/O virtualization). ![]() Other VMs on the Proxmox host can NOT share the GPU. “Legacy” GPU passthrough requires that the entire GPU be dedicated to a single VM. What is VT-d vGPU and how is it different from ‘legacy’ GPU passthrough? This enables multiple VMs on the same Proxmox host share the GPU via virtual functions (VFs). This post covers using an Intel 12th Gen (Alder Lake) CPU with Proxmox VE 8 to do VT-d vGPU passthrough to a Windows 11 Pro VM. ![]()
